The Metropolitan Community Church
of New Haven
The Metropolitan Community Church of New Haven (also known as MCC New Haven and MCCNH) is an open and affirming Christian Church with a special ministry to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered persons, their families and friends.
We celebrate God's unconditional love for all people at our Sunday morning worship service. Please join us at 10:00 a.m. for worship including Easter Sunday. Our services take place in the Parish House of United Church on the Green, located at 323 Temple Street in New Haven. You can read Rev. Brians weekly sermons on this blog.
We are very excited to announce that Rev. Brian Hutchison was installed as Interim Pastor on Sunday Feb 24 with Rev. Elder Darlene Garner officiating.
Reverend Brian Hutchison currently serves as Interim Pastor for MCC New Haven. Brian most recently served as Director of Volunteer Ministries for Sunshine Cathedral Metropolitan Community Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL. During that time, he also assisted Celebration MCC in Naples, FL through their pastoral transition. Before that position, he was the pastor of New Covenant MCC in Laurel, Maryland. Prior to ordination, he completed a clergy internship at MCC San Francisco. He also completed a Clinical Pastoral Education internship at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. Brian holds his Master of Divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA, his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland (College Park), and a Certificate in LGBT Studies from the same. Before ordained ministry, Brian was active in lay ministry in MCC and in the United Methodist Church of his upbringing before that.
Brian`s talents and passions include singing, preaching, pastoral care, religious education, small group meditation and study, HIV ministry, sexuality studies, and social justice work. Most recently, Brian has been active with the MCC Young Adult Ministry.
Brian is married to his husband of six years James who is a trained chef and artist. Brian and James enjoy food, the outdoors, social activism, and community activities.
The members of our congregation, our friends, families and visitors, come from a wide range of backgrounds of the Christian faith as well as other faiths and traditions. Therefore we are always mindful to share God's love in a way that honors all people, leaving them with the experience of feeling moved, inspired and included.
