Covenant of MCC New Haven

We, the members and friends of MCC New Haven, do now earnestly

covenant with God and each other, that:

We will strive always to discern and do God’s will as revealed to

us in the life of Jesus, the witness of scripture and other inspired

writings, and in our personal experience of God’s love in our lives.

We will esteem the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan

Community Churches, supporting its ministries and desiring its

unity in the faith and knowledge of God.

We will honor our responsibility to this local church, attending

faithfully the services of worship and other meetings, working and

praying for its harmony, the deepening of its spiritual life and for

its prosperity, giving cheerfully of our time, abilities and financial

means for the carrying on of a ministry in this community and

throughout the world.

We will seek the end of all forms of human oppression, especially

the oppression of lesbians, bisexuals, transgendered folk and gay

men, striving for universal dignity.

We will walk together in love, watching over and caring for one

another, sharing each other’s joys and bearing each other’s

burdens, being always slow to take offense and quick to make

reconciliation.

We will cultivate in ourselves and in our family and friends a

deeper understanding of our faith through study and worship.

We will seek to lead lives which reflect the Christ within us, that

we might commend our faith to others, being faithful servants of

God.
